In El Salvador there are many rivers where practice “rafting” or sport in kayaks or rafts. This sport can be practiced in groups and caravans, with your family or friends with the amenities required.
Another sport that love is the “hicking” or climb mountains and camping in the Woods, parks and volcanoes. For this read our notes on ecotourism and you can have more information of the places in which you can practice them.
“Surfing” sport is practiced on the coasts of our country, where there are small hotels, good food and the best waves for surfing only 30 or 40 minutes from San Salvador. Some of the best beaches for surfing are: Las Flores, Conchalio, El Zunzal, Punta Roca in La Libertad and Punta Mango in La Union.
Diving is very practiced in El Salvador, especially in the Lakes of volcanic origin are: Ilopango Lake, Lake of Coatepeque and others. If you want to practice this sport in the sea, there is the beach of Los Cobanos wherein there is a small reef with colorful fish and boats that have sunk in the area.
Other very common water sports are the “skiing” and “jetski” which are practiced in the Lake of Ilopango or Coatepeque, although many people do in estuaries such as Jiquilisco and the Barra de Santiago.
