The city of San Miguel is located in the Department of the same name, in the eastern part of El Salvador. It is located 138 kilometers from San Salvador. Its foundation goes back to the year of 1530, however is in the current site from 1586.
In the city of San Miguel is celebrated in the month of November the Carnaval de San Miguel, which is considered as the most important party of El Salvador. Its climate is one of the hottest in the country, especially in the dry season.
The most outstanding structure of the city is the Cathedral of San Miguel, which began its construction in 1862 and was completed one hundred years later. It is built in honor to our Lady of peace.
