Sun, salt water and sand are the attractions of natural paradise which is located in the Gulf of Fonseca. This entry of sea of the Pacific Ocean, located in the Eastern Department of La Unión, is one of the most attractive places in the country.
Sunrises, afternoon cloudy and full light of day, highlight the landscapes painted natural, that delight any visitor who comes to this place, which will certainly be impressed.
The mangroves of Pasaquina, the Islands Meanguera and Conchaguita and places of long beaches and blue waters can be seen in its entirety thanks to the magic of the light reflected in the environment. And not to lose the history of the place, in every month are collected texts of old manuscripts that narrate important events related to the place.
By be proud of the Gulf of Fonseca?
That part of the country has seen some of the most important events of our recent history. The historian Pedro Escalante Arce makes stress upon two that particularly fascinate him: the sinking of two ships of the fleet of Pedro de Alvarado, which took place at the time they decided to undertake a journey to Peru, and stop his rival, Francisco Pizarro.

There is a project to rescue that part of our heritage that is invaluable, that it will be carried out by the Research Department of the National Museum of Anthropology (Muna). The oceanic diving school cooperates with the technical training and provide boats when the team of experts, led by two Argentine underwater archaeologists engaged in investigate it, this will be at the end of this month.
Currently in this place we find the port of La Union, which is expected to be a magnet of economic and tourism development for the eastern region of the country and its neighbours, Honduras and Nicaragua in the coming years.
